DELAND ? Florida Hospital DeLand recently hosted a reunion luncheon for patients who underwent either a total knee or a total hip replacement from December 2011 to May 2012.
Approximately 60 former patients and coaches ? typically a close friend or family member who assists the patient through the healing process ? came out to the Sandhill Golf Course, 800 East Euclid Avenue, DeLand, to show off their newfound mobility, now that they?ve fully recovered from their joint replacement surgery.
?This was our first reunion and in addition to reconnecting with our former patients, we also gained our patients? perspectives and valuable insight on their entire journey through our program, enabling us to continue improving our services,? said Jill Piazza, Florida Hospital DeLand Director of Sports Medicine/Rehab and Orthopaedics.
Florida Hospital DeLand is the only Orthopaedic Center of Excellence in the area and recently earned The Joint Commission?s Gold Seal of Approval?, Disease-Specific Care Certification in Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement Surgery. Additionally, Florida Hospital DeLand has been nationally recognized for ranking in the top 10 percent for quality in joint replacement surgery.
