STARKVILLE ? Mississippi State University and the NCAA are investigating a "potential recruiting irregularity" involving the Bulldog football team, the school acknowledged Thursday.
ESPN reported that the investigation involves the recruitment of at least one football player currently on MSU's roster.
The news came four days after MSU assistant coach Angelo Mirando abruptly resigned on Sunday, citing "unforeseen personal issues."
While MSU officials confirmed they have been cooperating with the NCAA "over the last couple of months" on a "potential" issue, the school did not give other details or the names of any players that might be involved. School officials would also not comment on whether Mirando's resignation was tied to the NCAA investigation.
