First thing to consider is the perishable nature of all foods. While crackers and chips could probably survive unharmed in open air for a couple hours, most salads, or cooked food items, will need to be refrigerated prior to the party to keep them fresh. Many foods will also taste best if they are recently heated, and are still cozy, prompting decisions as to whether you would like to spend part of the party inside the kitchen cooking.
Drinks are another thought. Beverages often have to be kept either very cool, or very hot. If it?s cool outside, you can put cold drinks in the cooler and leave them outside to be able to stretch fridge space. Ice can also help quickly cool down a glass regarding soda or juice. You should be mindful about placing beverages in a fridge to cool them down quickly, because if you forget about them, the water might freeze, expand, and cause the container it?s directly into explode.
